Wednesday's night's game between No. 7 North Carolina and Davidson had a brief stoppage 5 seconds into the game due to a strange sight: something that looked like paper confetti fluttering down from the Smith Center rafters.

Take a look:

Officials stopped play briefly, allowing workers to sweep up the material _ it wasn't much _ near the UNC bench. The game quickly resumed after a minute or two.

At halftime, UNC team spokesman Matt Bowers said it appeared to be pieces of green padding used to absorb leaks near the ceiling. It's unclear exactly what caused some of it to break apart and flutter down.

So, mystery solved?

The Tar Heels went on to win 83-74.
